Come join us or send your team to hone their writing skills with the best of the best in the energy industry.  The writing workshop will cover topics such as writing a great article for an academic publication, drafting a clear and concise pleading for your next agency proceeding and how to differentiate your brief from the rest.  An appellate brief session will focus on the statement of the case, statement of the facts, summary of argument, argument, request for relief and use of the record. It will also offer some tips about the importance of the statement of the facts, framing the issues and tips on what to avoid in an appellate brief.  Another session will focus on the key elements involved in writing a good article on energy issues, the types of articles the Energy Law Journal is more likely to publish, and the Journal’s article publication process. This workshop will also include a session on what FERC looks for in pleadings as well as a session on writing for transactional lawyers.

Writing an effective appellate brief - Harvey Reiter

This session will focus on the basic elements of an appellate brief – the statement of the case, statement of the facts, summary of argument, argument, request for relief and use of the record. It will also offer some tips about the importance of the statement of the facts and framing the issues. Finally this session will offer tips on what to avoid in an appellate brief.
